MY PHILIPPINES: Sarangani Bay Festival 2011

The Sarangani Bay Festival on its 6th year led by Governor Migs Dominguez continuously draws thousands of tourists and has evolved to become the biggest beach party in Mindanao. The fiesta is a 3 day peaceful but fun filled event to honor the bounty of the sea and its people – the Sarangans, and to promote the conservation and protection of the Sarangani bay.

This years events include: Sarangan Fun Run, Culinary Competition, Sayaw Sarangan Hataw sa Tag-araw, Swim Across the Bay, Lumba Bugsay, Bancarera, Sand Sculpting Competition, Concert by the Bay, Bay Bodies Competition.

Other beach activities are Volleyball, Foot Volley, Football, Frisbee and Skim Boarding.

Sarangani province with its 7 towns (Alabel, Glan, Kiamba, Maasim, Maitum, Malapatan, Malungon) borders South Cotabato to the North and Davao del Sur to the east, sits on a typhoon-free land of 4,400 sq kms of rich agricultural, marine and cultural resources offering budding tourism promise and enormous investment potentials. Advantageously located in the southernmost tip of Mindanao just beyond Celebes sea, it is highly accessible via the sea and air ports of General Santos City. From Davao, it is only about 2- 3 hours scenic drive via public buses or private vehicles on good roads.
